The short answer
There is no single rule. Many offices book a regular clean somewhere between once a week and every working day. A small, quiet office often does well with one or two visits a week. A busy office with a shared kitchen, several bathrooms or daily visitors usually needs more. You choose the schedule, and we quote it.
What decides how often an office needs cleaning?
How often an office needs a clean comes down to how much it gets used. These are the main things to look at:
- Headcount: More people at desks means bins, kitchens and bathrooms fill up and mark up sooner.
- Kitchens and bathrooms: These rooms get the heaviest use, so they often set the schedule for the whole office.
- Visitors and clients: A reception, meeting rooms or a shopfront that clients see every day usually needs more visits.
- Floors: Hard floors near the entry show marks in wet weather. Carpet in busy walkways shows wear sooner.
- Office days: If staff are only in on some days, the schedule can follow the busy days.
- Shared building areas: In many buildings, the lobby, lifts and shared bathrooms are looked after by the building. Check what your building manager covers before you choose.
Common schedules by office type
Here is how often different offices commonly book a regular clean. Treat it as a starting point, not a rule.
| Office type | Common schedule | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small office with a few staff and a kitchenette | Once or twice a week | Light use. Bins and the kitchenette fill up slowly. |
| Mid-sized office with a shared kitchen | Two or three times a week | The kitchen and bathrooms get steady use most days. |
| Busy open-plan office or hot desks | Every working day | Many people share desks, kitchens and bathrooms. |
| Office with clients or visitors every day | Every working day, or reception and bathrooms more often than the rest | Reception, meeting rooms and bathrooms are what visitors see. |
| Medical or allied health suite | Often every day the suite is open | Many suites set their own cleaning rules. Those come first. |
| Shop or showroom | Several times a week, or every trading day | Entry floors and the glass by the door show marks soon. |

What usually happens every visit, and what can wait
A schedule does not have to treat every job the same. Many offices split it like this:
Our guide to what a standard office visit includes covers the regular visit in more detail.

Request a QuoteSigns your office needs more or fewer visits
Your first schedule is a starting point. Watch for these signs over the first month or two:
- Bins Bins are full before the next visit.
- Kitchen Dishes and spills sit in the sink overnight.
- Bathrooms Staff mention the bathrooms between visits.
- Floors Entry floors look marked soon after a clean, mostly in wet weather.
- Quiet days Staff are only in on some days each week.
- Empty rooms Some rooms or floors are hardly used.
- Light kitchen use The kitchen is used for drinks more than meals.
- Still tidy Most areas still look tidy when the next visit comes around.
If your headcount or office days change, tell us the new schedule you want and we will quote it.
How to choose a schedule and ask for a quote
Start with the busiest rooms. Decide how often the kitchen and bathrooms need a clean, then build the rest of the office around that. Ask your staff what they notice between visits.
When you enquire, tell us:
- The size of the office and the number of desks.
- How many kitchens and bathrooms there are.
- How often you want a visit, and on which days.
- The hours your building allows.
Our office cleaning service covers offices across the Hills District. For the general idea of what moves a quote, our home guide on what changes a Hills cleaning quote explains it. An office quote follows the same idea: the visits you choose, the size of the office and the rooms in it.
