Why a Hills bathroom still looks dull after a wipe
Shower glass goes cloudy when water drops dry on it. Damp air near bush corridors, including Cattai Creek and Darling Mills, keeps bathrooms wet long enough for dark spots in the silicone. A wipe rarely clears either one. On a final inspection, agents still check the glass and the corners. See the end of lease inspection guide for the wider handover list.
Cloudy shower glass in Hills homes
If you wipe the screen after each shower, the film builds more slowly. Once the glass looks cloudy in daylight, household glass cleaner mostly moves the haze around. The cloud is minerals left behind when water drops dry. People sometimes call that film silica. You do not need the name. You need to know a thick film will not wipe off like fresh soap. It is common on frameless screens.
- How to tell: Hold a light at an angle. Fresh soap wipes away. Mineral film stays cloudy.
- Taps and shower heads: The same white ring shows around tap bases and shower heads. Drying them after use slows the ring.
- Skip rough pads: Scourers and gritty cream cleaners can scratch the glass. Scratches hold the haze, so it comes back faster.
If the glass is still milky after you have kept it dry for a while, home care may not be enough. Note the bathroom when you book. We can clean for that scope, on its own or as part of a spring clean or a bond clean.
Dark spots, fans, and rooms that stay wet
Spots on the tile surface can fade once the room dries and the surface is cleaned. Spots inside the silicone are different. The bead can look pale after a wipe and turn grey again within a couple of weeks. That usually means the mould is in the silicone, not only on top of it. Replacing an old bead, once the wall is dry, is a repair. A standard clean does not include cutting it out. Say so on the booking if the bead is loose, black through, or leaking at the tray.

Request a QuoteWhat not to mix
Do not mix bleach with acids. Vinegar and many bathroom scale products are acids. Do not mix bleach with ammonia. Either mix can give off dangerous gas in a small bathroom. Keep pets out until the room is dry, and note product preferences when you book. The pet-friendly cleaning guide covers what to tell us about floors, fabrics, and rooms to skip.
When to book a bathroom clean
- The film is light: A squeegee after showers, plus a dry room, keeps the glass clear.
- You live there: You can keep the habit. No agent is due this week.
- The silicone is sound: No spots coming back, no loose bead, and no leak at the tray.
- Keys are due back: Shower glass and silicone are common inspection notes in Castle Hill and Rouse Hill. NSW Fair Trading still decides the bond.
- The haze stays: Send photos to us and ask for a bathroom scope. We do not name a brand or a timed fix.
- You want the whole home: Add bathrooms to a deep clean or a vacate clean so fans and tracks are in the same booking.
If this bathroom is part of a handover, start with the Hills inspection checklist and the guide to claiming your bond in NSW. If you are staying, ask us to add the ensuites to a deep clean and tell us anything you want us to avoid.
